Zia On India

Pakistan President Ziaul Haq has said that a country like Pakistan cannot leave its security aspects totally to the mercy of an “allegedly” friendly neighbour (India). The president said he couldn’t do so when the neighbour “is very large and is further extending its military strength”. He noted that Pakistan has balanced its needs for economic development and its security needs with regard to the purchase of arms.
